Gustave Doré
Paul Gustave Doré had an artistic career I envy. He was a child prodigy, and subsequently ended up being asked to do illustrations for the works of Milton, Byron, Dante, Coleridge, Tennyson..yeah, you can see how I’d be jealous, right?
He’s pretty well known for paintings but I love his engravings and woodcuts a lot more. They’re much more dramatic and give off more of Doré’s individual style. See more under the cut!
Samson and Delilah.
Naiads.
Bradamante (kneeling), a badass lady knight, from Orlando Furioso, an Italian romantic epic.
