William Wegman

William Wegman is an American photographer who is best known for his photographs of dogs, namely his own Weimeraniers.

Originally Wegman planned to work as a painter, and has a BFA in painting at Massachusetts College of Art as well as an MFA in painting from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

He began photographing while teaching at California State University at Long Beach after purchasing his most famous dog, Man Ray. He usually dresses his dogs in human clothes and often places them in comical situations. He also utilizes his dogs in his video work and they have appeared on Sesame Street.
